WASHINGTON – Today, the Private Equity Growth Capital Council (PEGCC) released its latest case study video showing how private equity investment helped a Michigan company grow and expand operations.

The video focuses on Tectum Holdings Inc (THI), an Ann Arbor, Michigan-based manufacturer and distributor of automotive accessories, such as truck bed covers. Seeking to expand operations into a bigger facility and hire more employees, THI partnered with TA Associates for access to capital and strategic guidance.

U.S. Sen. Debbie Stabenow (D-MI) participated in the case study after visiting THI earlier this year and seeing firsthand the impact private equity has had in her home state.

“THI is an example of how Michigan is coming roaring back,” U.S. Sen. Debbie Stabenow says in the video. “They’re innovative, willing to expand, to take risks. They’ve got great employees and they really represent the best about making things in America, and particularly in Michigan.”

“Our partnership with TA was an evolution of where we were in developing THI,” said THI President and CEO Bill Reminder. “THI has always been an extremely fast-growing company…the thing TA brought to the table was the experience to actually get us to that next level and to support the management initiatives to do so.”

TA Associates provided management expertise to THI to help improve and boost operations after announcing a majority investment in THI in July of 2014. THI sells products under market leading brands, including Extang, TruXedo, UnderCover, Retrax, BAK and Advantage. THI operates manufacturing facilities in California, Michigan, Missouri, North Dakota, South Dakota and Tennessee.
